This is entirely up to the “mainstream” Republican establishment. They can accept that they have lost, and unite behind a strong conservative in Cruz, who will bring genuine reform. Or they can let Trump burn the whole system down.

The mistake you're making is that the GOPE consider Cruz almost as bad as Trump. Understand this:

The Establishment DOES NOT WANT "genuine reform"

That's what they are TERRIFIED of. They are afraid of anything that might end (or, worse, expose) their system of cushy deals and lobbyist favors they get in exchange for PRETENDING to oppose the Democrats' initiatives.

The final delegate count at The Green Papers has Trump 294, Cruz 148, Rubio 105, plus 42 for all the rest. Trump got more Super Tuesday delegates than all the rest combined.

For instance, don’t ask me how Georgia with a possible 76 delegates has only 61 allocated.

Because at the time you looked, they hadn't posted the final delegate allocation. For GA the final numbers are Trump 43, Cruz 18, Rubio 15, giving Trump an absolute win in Georgia, having won 56.58% of the primary vote.

That count is incomplete. Cruz has accumulated about 245 delegates to date. He's about 50 delegates behind Trump. The final number hasn't yet been determined.

From where are you getting that Cruz has 245 delegates?

Cruz has a projected total from yesterday of 223, plus the 18 he had from Iowa and New Hampshire gives 245.

When looking at these delegate totals, some are the aggregate totals including previous delegates, and some are yesterday only, it can be confusing.

The page linked to in this post only allocates 555 of the 595 delegates to be awarded from yesterday.

The projected totals for each candidate from yesterday, even if not put up on the board yet:

Trump: 241
Cruz: 223
Rubio: 110
Kasich: 18
Carson: 3

Total: 595

I think in most states they are committed on the first ballot. I guess they could just not vote.

The issue really starts next round. Those the winner take all states. The count will get disparate real fast. By St Patty’s day it will be over. Come August, everyone will think Super Tuesday was eons ago.

Folks need to relax.

The parties run the primaries. And for the most part the founders did not envision our form of parties, let alone the primary process.

It does look that way. I’m still confused about the math...

From Wikipedia...

Of the total 2,472 Republican delegates, 1,719 are pledged delegates, who as with the Democratic Party, are elected at the state or local level. To become the Republican Party nominee, the candidate must win a simple majority of 1,191 of the 2,380 total delegates at the Republican National Convention.

I think the delegates become free agents once their candidate drops

Implying that Cruz is a GOPe/RINO because he has GOPe/RINO support is as silly as the MSM implying that Trump is KKK because he has David Duke support.

I never implied he was a GOPe/RINO - just noted that a real RINO considers him a last ditch effort to "save the GOP". When hard core RINOs consider him a better bet to "save the GOP", it ought to cause some synapses to connect. It's not that RINOs claim to support him that made my "spidey senses" tingle, it's the reason they give.
