Anyway, this is how Civil Society and local-rule at the lowest level works.
I’ve known firefighters with lawn care companies.
They work 72 hours straight, then have 4 days off in a row.
Lots of time to work a second job/business.
Remember a bad day of lawn care includes breakdowns and rain.
A bad day as a firefighter has the potential to be MUCH more serious.

It's due to their work schedules. In major metropolitan areas where they have permanent fire departments, they'll work maybe 48 to 72 hours straight where they have to live in the firehall then they have several days off.......unlike rural fire departments which are staffed by volunteers and are on call.
In fact, the guy who worked on my air conditioning compressor two summers ago is a Detroit fireman who also has a small heating and cooling company.
