Regarding the Chicago “outfit”: it was never attacked by Federal law enforcement to the extent New York's “Five Families” were, or the Boston Italian Mafia was. It is not exclusively Sicilian, or even just Italian. Hillary Clinton's father, of English and Welsh ancestry, was tied to the “outfit” through his business and banking associations. So were the Irish Catholic Daleys, father and son, Dan Rostenkowski, a Polish American, the long time congressional Ways and Means chairman, and, most importantly, Barack Obama through his association with Rahm Emanuel, who is Jewish.
