All Trump has done is highlight the issue, because he has experienced the medias first hand. He is the first candidate, in a long time, that people from all walks of listen to, even people who do not like him, listen to him. Trump is correct, the media needs to be reined in, they need to be held accountable when they lie. The court decision made in the 1960s that shields the media from libel is a bad one and needs to be addressed legislatively. For the sake of our Republic which is falling apart, IN LARGE PART BECAUSE OF IRRESPONSIBLE MEDIA WITH AN AGENDA THAT LIES AND LIES!!!!!

The editorial page can still express opinions. All the media is going to be required to do is to be honest; they cannot be allowed to libel with impunity, whether the victim of their lies is a public figure or not. If they do, they need to face the consequences of their actions; and the consequence should be a lot more than a 2-sentence retraction buried at the bottom of page 6. The law(s) that need to be passed to reverse this disastrous course we have been on for the last 50 years need to be carefully crafted, to ensure that the first amendment is protected.

And let me ask you this, those of you who do not think it is a good idea to hold the media in anyway accountable for lying, for the first 200 years of our Republic the media could be sued if they libeled. Has the cause of freedom been advanced in the last 50 years? Are we a freer richer country because the media can lie with inpunity?
