Political Scientists at the academic level concluded a couple of years ago that the US is now an oligarchy in everything except name.

With six fortune 500 companies owning 90% of the media content distribution companies in this country, its easy for the power elites to control the message.
Ask yourself a couple of questions...
Have you ever heard a politician argue FOR increased deficit spending and increasing the national debt? I haven’t. They all argue against it and say that its bad and it shouldn’t happen. But what does happen?
Have you ever heard a politician in any speech tell us we should be happy with the tax codes, forms, and return process we have? Ever hears them run for election on a platform of more tax laws, more complex forms, a thicker rulebook, and even more complex system than we have this year? No — they all talk about making it more fair and simpler or they don’t talk about it all. But what do we end up doing every spring in this country for a couple of more hours than we did the previous spring?
The evidence you need is readily available if you just start paying attention without the artificial construct or partisan identification or political leaning.
I love you.
Thanks for the link too. THIS should be spoken about in the public square. We are all fooled by these superficial constructs. I FELT we lived in an oligarchy but that research PROVES we do.
And what do we think any other candidate can do about it?
How Oligarchies Form
http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-an-oligarchy.htm
Oligarchies are often controlled by a few powerful families whose children are raised and mentored to become inheritors of power, often at some sort of expense to those governed. In contrast with aristocracy or government by the “best” this power might not always be exercised openly, with some oligarchs preferring to remain “the power behind the throne,” exerting their control through economic means. Unlike plutocracy, oligarchy is not always a rule by wealth, either, because oligarchs can simply be a privileged cadre. It also has been suggested that most communist states fit the definition of oligarchies.
