This election has been clarifying.
To think is terms of principles is hard, and there is no immediate emotional pay-off. Just as liberty itself has no immediate pay-off. It is merely a system in which individuals are free to advance to the limits of their abilities, which may or may not be great.
But for the emotionally incontinent and/or stupid, there is an immense emotional pay-off to following a leader who flatters your vanity and tells you that your repeated failures in life are not due to your own deficiencies, but to outside people & forces arrayed against you - forces & people which this leader promises to destroy.
