I’ve always admired Cruz for his conservative positions. But I think this style of attack-dog campaigning is proving to be a detriment for him. I had more respect for him when he was campaigning as a gentleman.

Agree. He’s still my number 2, but I think he damaged any chance of being VP by showing a sleazier side.
Makes one start to wonder if he fights the one man wars knowing it gets him attention, and also knowing its a losing battle, but does it to puff up his own standing.
Yes, I feel the same way. While I blame Trump for changing the tone in many ways to a street brawl and being thin skinned, that's his style and if he gets the nomination, I hope it's a style he takes to the Democrats instead of the usual Republican swoon.
However, it's not Cruz's style to go back at people in the same manner. He's a great debater when he's debating and he can take your words and beat you upside the head with them, but when he's slinging mud back, he's just another guy in a suit getting his lunch money taken. I've seen Cruz abandon answers just so he could attack Trump which does nothing but miss an opportunity to say something substantial. The low point last night was when Cruz demanded that Trump release his tax returns. That's what the RATS always demand because it paints that rich, fat cat picture in the minds of LIVs. To have one of ours, the guy I'm supporting no less, do it, left me bitterly disappointed.
I know it's not easy to let things go especially when Trump then calls you out for not responding as he did a debate or two ago, but you have to be able to recognize that your message has disappeared into the ether of attack, attack, attack while your communication staff has completely let you down. The Cruz campaign looks to be on the wrong track.
