First one had Rik Mayall as part of the cast and the second he was the star. Most European women I knew hated him.
Dave Allen at Large.
Benny Hill, no doubt...
That’s My Boy.
Main character is Ida Willis, played by Mollie Sugden (Mrs. Slocombe of Are You Being Served)
Okay comedy. Lasted about 3 seasons.
All of the shows mentioned here are great. I would definitely recommend the IT Crowd - spot on brilliant. Whenever I see David Cameron, I think of the guy who invited Jen to the gay musical.
Also, check out Brass Eye, only available AFAIK on YouTube. Definitely way way way out there. And watch out that your kids are not exposed to Clarky Cat or Cake!
The Worst Week of My Life is okay. Has some funny moments.
Haven’t seen this one listed yet.
Waiting for God.
Smack the Pony is good too.
Chef!
Please Come Back Mrs. Noah.
Also, here's a pre-Monty Python bit The Four Yorkshiremen Sketch with Marty Feldman>
Speaking of Marty Feldman, here's a bit from his TV show The Affair Sketch
It was a while back but Flying High was funny (Cummings was in it), and Rising Damp was a hoot. And I like Vicious, which is recent. If you are in to renting movies, check out the “Carry On” series. I particularly liked Make mine Mink, but most were named “Carry On Nurse, Carry on Dr.” etc. They had a wonderful cast. And I also liked the movie with Maggie Smith...it has several titles, one of them was A Royal Affair, I think. Its about a local gov’t party holding a dinner/dance to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s engagement to Prince Phillip during the privations of WW II and after, and how a social climber finagles to get an invite.
Great character development
don’t have the time to check every post right now.....but ‘The Fall and Rise of Reggie Perrin’ is really funny! From the 70’s, with Leonard Rossiter as Reggie Perrin.
“Absolutely Fabulous”
Ab-Fab was very funny about two ultra materialistic middle aged women.
The too short lived “Blandings”. Hilarious beyond words.
“New Tricks”, a British Unsolved Cases Squad series has some of the best comic lines around. So does the more “black” “Waking the Dead” “cold case squad” series. One of the best ever.
Glad someone nominated “The Vicar of Dibley”. Sidesplittingly funny.
“Enslow” character in “Keeping Up Appearances”, along with “Daisy” and “Rose”.
IT Crowd, That Mitchell And Webb Look, The Mighty Boosh, Snuff Box, Garth Merenghi’s Dark Place
