“’Yes, Minister’ and ‘Yes, Prime Minister’ are the gold standard of British sitcoms”

I concur.

What you are missing is competition.

Keeping Up Appearances

Love that show. Onslow was always my favorite character.

I am British myself and would recomend you take a look at "It Ain't Half Hot Mum" the setting is a British Army "concert party" in Burma late in WW2 it was on TV from 1974 to 1981. It is never repeated on BBC TV as it is no longer considered "politically correct". Also Hyperdrive a Sc-fi comedy (2006/7) which only ran for two series but is very underrated.

Hyperdrive episode 1

I watched some of that. Judi Dench in “Behaving Badly” was what caused me to detonate my midlife crisis.

Most of the stuff with David Mitchell and Robert Webb. They have a real early program which has the guy who plays Dr. Watson in the newish Sherlock Holmes series opposite Cumberbatch.

On YouTube, I've found a plethora of British game shows and interview programs that are really just excuses for comedians to show off a la Hollywood Squares. There's one called QI hosted by Stephen Fry that's generally funny and informational.

Here's one example of the sort of stuff Mitchell and Webb do:

Argh!!! I forgot one: "The Good Life" (or in America, "The Good Neighbors"). Penelope Keith - as "Margo" - was consistently a hoot in that one. Margo's husband Jerry was played by Paul Eddington, who is more well known for "Yes Minister."

That’s why it’s funny. It’s not about autism, it’s a comedy.

I don't know. I could laugh about autism, or at least it's clueless contrast with acceptable behavior. But an @sshole is just an @sshole, and not funny, because he knows he's hurting good people and either likes it or just doesn't care.

I never saw that mini-series.

Yes, and Judi not Judy, like my tablet changed it. I was a victim of autocorrect!

Keeping Up Appearances

I should also add that I thought Patricia Routledge (who portrayed Hyacinth Bucket ("Boo-kay") was masterful in the ability to conduct her one-sided conversations on the phone (often with her son, Sheridan). The only other actor who could do it so skillfully was Bob Newhart.
