Why are they obligated to support Trump? Is Trump going to defend this country against ISIS? Basically, with Trump as CIC, the country would be completely undefended from it’s enemies.

He is saying nothing of the sort. Reading too much into it. Trump simply knows his adversaries, and may offer up some interesting information about those donors.
