Besides that, Cruz had to spend an entire day answering questions regarding Trump and potential lawsuit...a day he could have spent campaigning...granted Ted got to show his ad again...but Trump was the focus. He had to defend himself and further put into voters minds that maybe Trump had something with the threat. It was a great move by Trump to send a cease and desist letter. It threw Cruz off his game. These things are tactical

And the next day...The Pope and Trump....Again a whole day of the nation talking about Trump. Couldn’t write better stuff....

After the CNN Town hall hast night they spent 47 minutes talking about Trump and a bone to Yeb! and Kaisich hugging some kid. Once again all the air sucked out of the room by Trump. Whether one agrees with him or not, he has built in a free campaign ad every segment on the news. Whether the report is good or bad they are talking about him and that is what it is all about

I mean who is talking about Carson? Is he still in the race?

Very true, and it is easy to see how Trump and his team are doing these things in a planned manner, which is at least several steps ahead of their competition's understanding of them.

Like you pointed out, Trump had Cruz having to repeatedly respond to that possibility, and the steps he was going to do to address that possible action of Trump.   (Likewise with the Pope situation, and the strong possibility now that all fair-minded Christians will end up siding with Trump in that remote exchange.)
