Did George Bush lie?

“But the fact is, if we decide a strike against Iraq is necessary, it is madness not to carry the mission to its conclusion.”
Trump nailed it.

I changed my mind a bunch of times between 2001 and 2003 while diff't info was getting out.
After Powell's presentation I thought, 'fine, just get it over with it'll be quick like Rumsfeld says'.

He said, “yeah, I guess so.” That isn’t a definite yes. We were all told by our president that this war was necessary because of WMDs. Even the Democrats bought into it. So, this is a nothing burger.

Did George Bush lie? No, but it's clear that Donald Trump did.

So I guess Trump helped get us into Iraq....

His "backing" wasn't a stance but a concession that there might be reasons not obvious to him at the time - the whole story says he looked at it with some common sense and with an eye towards allowing that the government might have some compelling info available.
His comment about carrying it to it's conclusion if it was started was spot-on.

Trump is John Kerry. He was for it and then against it.
