For almost ten years, Hot Air has utilized a proprietary, members-only comment system. In 2006, this kind of system made much sense, but Internet standards and technology have moved beyond this kind of system. Beginning tomorrow, Hot Air will move from its present proprietary closed-comment system to Facebook comments. At that time, native commenting functions will cease, and all comments will come through the Facebook interface.

I haven’t visited Salem site in a long time. HotAir, RedState, TownHall, all useless RINO blather...no wonder they love Ted Cruz.
this is about..... M.O.N.E.Y.....
HA will get .00002 cents per post
from Zuck.
just don’t go there
Basically ended my relationship with the site which goes back to the founding by MM.
I refuse to Facebook. If a site requires it,I won’t post.
Commenters provide content, which was high quality at Hot Air.
Once they leave, there’s no point in advertising, no one will show up to see ads. I hope Zuckerberg pays Salem very well for whoring the site out. In a couple years Hot Air will be the new Charles Johnson. Who? everyone will say.
Well, I wouldn’t say they love TC but they were/are certainly leaning towards Jeb!@ and Rubio.
Hey Ed!
Some conservatives are smart enough to avoid FaceBook!
Bye!
It has already started.
I love their snarky headlines. They do have good articles and I’m also a poster there. But no more. I barely use Facebook to begin with.
So does that mean everybody I know on facebook will be alerted when I comment on something?
More to the point, all your comments will be associated with your Facebook identity, so Zuckerberg can make some money selling the identities of all HotAir posters to various Leftist groups.
I always liked your posts at HA.
You mean the clueless Libertarians that run that site are going to funnel more money to the Left Wing kooks that run Facebook?
Yeah, that's a grand plan.
From what my sister told me, the Hot Air posters are plenty pi$$ed off about this!
Maybe we’ll see an increase on FR as a result.
Me, either. No Facebook ever. Too intrusive.
I’ve never used Facebook or Hot Air, but sometimes I scroll through comments there. Today a poster said she wouldn’t be able to post any more because of anonymity issues. She’s a teacher and she’d be in big trouble if her opinions should get “out there” and connected with her name.
Judging from that comment it seems that the answer to your question may be that everybody you know on Facebook will be alerted to your comments. Still... I’m not sure. Am Facebook ignorant.
Actually about 80% or more of the comments were not happy about the change.
I’ve been posting over there for maybe two years but damn I’ll never post using a FB account.
Not by a long shot. I don't touch stuff like that with my hands.
This is what makes me so sad and frustrated. The cartel consumes and digests another Good Thing.
