No opinion other than I hate the phrase "jump the shark".
Like "methinks." Or "begs the question" when used as "asks the question."

Let me educate you bozo - Cruz started this. Trump never said a word until Cruz hit him first. Then he gave it back 10x harder. Get your facts straight - your Cruzio isn’t without fault. In fact, he was making snide, nasty remarks behind not only Trump’s back, but Carsons as well. He is a snake in the grass, a back-stabbing liar, who said not to trust Trump or Carson’s judgment - then he hooks up with the likes of Glenn Beck. Trump built an empire on good judgment, and my God- Ben Carson - what can I say about that man with the gifted hands/

"
Yeah. I donât get it. FR used to be conservative, used to care about policy."
I agree.
To go a bit further... I was attracted to this site years ago based on the "Free" and "republic" parts of the name which seem not to fit anymore.
I'm not sure I've heard the popular populist front runner mention either word.
Freedom is(was) America's founding principle. Conservatives don't always believe in freedom but they do more often than the never of the Left.
The wall is certainly The Don's big selling point. And I'm with him on that. We aren't even a nation if we can't point to where it starts physically.
But Freedom is not a something achieved by business-like compromise. You are either for it or against it.
Federal level involvement in health care is not Freedom.
Funding for death care is not Freedom.
"Getting things done" at the federal level is almost always not Freedom.
I'll vote for The Don if he captures the nom. It's the only mature option.
I'm probably not missing anything, but I have no idea anymore what a voting booth smells like. I've been holding my nose while voting for several presidential general elections now. I'm starting to sound like Andy Rooney.

You get a standing O from me, my FReeper FRiend. As I have said before, who could have dreamed that it would be the conservatives who would have to swim upstream at FR? I’m flummoxed, confused, bewildered and scared spitless of what I’ve seen happening here. Here’s hoping you or any of us who come to agree with your assessment don’t get our memberships pulled as a result.

Christian converts don’t own houses of ill repute.
Sorry, I know tens of thousands of Christians, I have never ever met one who does.

I know many young women who go there for birth control pills and not for abortions. The abortion aspect of PP is horrible, but, it isn’t the only thing they do. But, you can’t tell these pious, self-righteous Pharisees anything - they know better than anyone - including God.

Rather than this being a matter of holding Donald Trump to a higher standard, its a case of you holding him to no standard at all. Your candidate described himself as being “very pro-choice” and the video of his NBC interview is available. He’s been very liberal on the issue and we don’t owe him a pass.
Furthermore, you will not under any circumstance bother to bring up the fact that Ted Cruz voted against it in the Senate and raked the Republican leadership over the coals for doing it.

This is what it looks like when a party loses its base because it betrayed them.
It’s no more complicated than that.

Free Republic has changed a LOT since about 2007 or so. I miss the good old days of FR (which for me started in 2000).

Wouldn't it be nice if everything was black and white? Wouldn't it be nice if we had a conservative candidate who was perfect that stood out over everyone else and had no negatives? I was for Cruz before Cruz even declared, but now I'm not sure he's even eligible to be President and it seems he's a little less than honest in covering his tracks or in campaign tactics. Will I still vote for him if he's the nominee? Sure. I'll vote for anyone over Hillary or Bernie.
If Trump will be the lefty you fear, why isn't he being embraced by the GOP establishment? Obviously they fear they won't be able to control him and keep the status quo.
Yes, some of the things he says makes me wince but I can say that for every single one of them.
What is your biggest issue? Abortion? Ok, I can respect that. I think it's very important, too. How many "pro-life" GOP Presidents have we had since Roe v Wade? Yet, we still have Roe v Wade. Trump does not defend PP's abortion activities. The problem isn't PP, it's ABORTION. It's STILL LEGAL. Should it be de-funded? Absolutely. Is that THE most important issue?
For me personally, I believe the most important issue is securing our literal and figurative borders from illegal immigrants and terrorists.
Answer this question if you will - which of the candidates plans would do the most in that regards?
The role of federal government is supposed to be limited but it is supposed to have ONE MAJOR JOB above all else, and that is our national defense. That obviously starts with having a secure border. I can say it no better than Trump. If we don't have a border, we don't have a country. Nothing else matters. NOTHING.
Unfortunately, it has come to that. I wish it weren't that dire. We have to start putting this country back together again, and that's where it has to start. If you have a house that has no locks on the doors and no windows, and the house is continually ransacked by whoever wants to wander in, you have a major problem. The house needs to be renovated, repaired and cleaned up. What good is doing ANY of that if you don't start by securing the house to keep the invaders, robbers and pillagers out?
Maybe the guy who kicks the asses of the invaders out of your home and installs the locks and windows for you isn't the same guy that you want to pick out and install your wallpaper but where will you hang the wallpaper without any walls?

You have it all screwed up - it depends on who those donors are, doesn’t it? Goldman Sachs? Get real. All the politicians are owned by special interest groups - every da**ed one of them.

Strange (and scary) days indeed! Some seem to have lost their minds, even contrary to reason she evaluating candidates’ positions. Made worse still now that the SCOTUS and our very Bill of Rights are at stake..

I don’t need no education on Trump, so don’t bother.
He is a bloviating bum who is the best shyster we have seen in some time, well since Obama in 2008.
Watch the movie if you dare.

Yea, well the vast majority demanded to have Barabbas released and demanded Christ be crucified.
I don’t get swayed by crowds, they are often wrong
Sarah Palin has made her bed with the devil. Or do you claim that Sessions, Lee, and King are as bad as you claim Ted is?

No, you take it up with God. I know the Bible as well or better than you do. The woman he told to go and sin no more came to him for healing - he healed her, forgave her sins, and told her to go and sin no more. Do you still sin? I bet you do - all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Got that - ALL! How sad that you think Ted Cruz is the Savior or Messiah - you worship an idol and a false one at that.
