I remember 40, a long while back

I'm retired now. But knew I was really aging when in my last decade of work, one day I noticed some new people on the work floor who appeared to be grade school students. I thought to myself "why are they hiring young teens?"

I later discovered these "young teens" were in their thirties. Boy, did I ever feel old then.

When I hit 40, 50 seemed old.
When I hit 50, 60 seemed old.
When I hit 60... man, I felt old.

Really.

The big 6-0 hit me hard, and I have reached the point where time seems to be speeded up, rather than slowing down. I'd really much prefer to be able to think like my grandmother, who didn't let age faze her: when in her 90's she was kvetching about all those "old people" in her care facility (the ones that were many years younger than she was).
