Hey Freepers!
What are your cough remedies?
I've had a persistent and overwhelming cough since December.
I've been to multiple doctors, been on anti biotics, had all kinds of cough syrups and drops. Nothing seems to stop it.
Anyone have a home remedy? Thanks in advance!
“Weezer”? ROFLOL OH! the irony. That is hilarious. I’d ask how you knew if I was currently suffering from my COPD, and I am 70. Thanks be-baw. This is the best laugh of the day!
As a retired auctioneer, my voice was my fortune. The best thing most of us found was HACKS Cough Drops, which were made in Britain. Sometime around 1990 they suddenly disappeared from stores and we never knew why.
Then I invented my own elixer. It would curb a cough. Plus, if my vocal chords began to weaken on a long day, a sip of it would instantly give me 20+ additional minutes. Several additional sips, if needed, would enable me to finish the auction.
RECIPE: Acquire some raw, unprocessed, uncooked honey and some raw vinegar with the mother. You can get both at a health food store. Also get a bottle of 100 proof Wild Turkey or other decent whiskey. Mix equal parts of those 3 ingredients. The raw honey will be thick, almost like putty, so you will need to stir well until it completely dissolves in the liquids.
I carried a small bottle of that mixture with me for about 30 years whenever I did an auction, which for a number of years was 3 auto auctions per week and usually an antique or farm auction on Saturdays. It works.
Well, if my math is correct, that was $200 for each time he said "water bottle". You're probably lucky that doctor wasn't this guy, and that he wasn't endlessly repeating "water bottle" like a "broken record". (Remember records?)

I had a persiatant cough for years and none of the docs I went to had a clue as to the root cause. If you have a white coating on your tounge, or even at the back of it, then read this and get some of the anti-fungal meds it describes. It may be candida, or oral thrush.

You want to get rid of a cough — this may help. Stop consuming all dairy products for a while — that means no butter, ice cream, milk, yogurt, kefir, cheese, etc. — anything that produces a lot of mucous. Mucous is the perfect environment for whatever causes the coughing, so take away their perfect environment — give it a couple of weeks — and see what happens.
Really?
Drink a lot of water. Carry water with you. When a cough comes on, take a couple sips.
And, if you sill have a cough, who cares. I’m with you.
If you have a family doctor who will prescribe them I agree with the tessalon perles.
Best thing for a nagging cough ever, and I have tried just about everything.
Get those for the short term and keep the appointment with the specialist.
Can’t be too careful.
Blood pressure medicine with ACE inhibitors does that to me. Doctor has changed my medicine.
Are you taking any new medications? A couple of years ago my doc changed my blood pressure medication and I developed a persistent cough that wouldn’t stop. Took a couple of months to figure out it was the medication.
I had a friend recommend kefir to me for (ahem) digestive issues. Is it really as good as they say?
I take this drug for high blood pressure and it causes a persitant dry cough, has for yrs. It controls my Bp really well so my Dr is reluctant to take me off of it. My Dad took it for a while and had same cough.
take an 8 or 12 ounce glass and fill it with your favorite wine....

Or has been brought to USA by the 3rd world invaders.
Fisherman’s Friend. Hard to find but worth it. And get the original flavor, not the honey. Tastes like hell, but effective. Concave shaped to park between gum and cheek.

There is a difference in drinking and using alcohol for your health. Almost all liquid medicines have alcohol in them.
It might be an allegery.
Try taking some Claritan with some Benedryl. Or just Benedryl.
