speaking of twitter, I had some interesting exchanges with cruz fans on Twitter, while I was poolside on Saturday. I rarely get into substantive discussions, but David Limbaugh asked a sincere question whether Rubio supports really felt strongly about immigration as an issue, figuring probably not and that’s why they were able to support him. I said I feel very strongly about immigration because I think demography will in fact determine our destiny, but I do not consider cruz electable, so the best most principled immigration stance is worthless if it cannot be effectuated. I had several people engaging me but no one was nasty, so it was ok.

Can you name anything substantive that Rubio has done? He didn’t do well thinking on his feet in the last debate and while I don’t think the best debater should be president, there should be a strong ability to defend positions spontaneously and not just repeat talking points. I don’t think he is ready for the job yet.

Many seem to think they are electing a dictator. Bush wanted to do immigration reform, right?, and the chorus of disapproval stopped it from happening.

So, a President Rubio may not be the strongest against immigration, but he’s not going to get his way in reality.
