Word For The Day, Monday, 2/8/16
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
convivial; adj.
1. friendly; agreeable: a convivial atmosphere.
2. fond of feasting, drinking, and merry company; jovial.
3. of or befitting a feast; festive.
Etymology: 1660s, "pertaining to a feast," from Late Latin convivialis, from Latin convivium "a feast," from convivere "to carouse together," from com- "together" (see com- ) + vivere "to live" (see vital ). Meaning "sociable" is from 18c. Related: Conviviality.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
The “Doritos commercial is guilty of ‘humanizing fetuses’?”
Yeah.
How sweet of you to remember that....now everyone will be wondering just exactly what we did for your birthday! ;^)
He acted like a petulant child. If this is the face of the new NFL, I don’t want to see it. He behaved poorly and deserves to be called out for his actions during and post-game. He revealed his character and it wasn’t pretty.
Yes, i’m even more older now. LOL.
You gave me great big smiles that lasted a long time, that's what you did.
Good morning - I didn’t find the Super Bowl to be a snoozer at all, but I detest Carolina, or Scam Newton in particular, so it was great for us to see him on the verge of tears! ;^)
It’s exactly the kind of behavior I predicted a couple hours before the game. He showed himself to be a whiney bitch, albeit a very talented whiney bitch. He couldn’t seal the deal.
HOW DARE anyone as portraying a human baby as human. The nerve!
It scares the EFFF out of me the thought processes in some people’s heads.
well I am just going by what xshub said, he put it down as one of the worst superbowls he has ever seen. I don’t follow the NFL and had no opinion at all except I had heard the hype of Cam Newton being all that and several bags of chips!
I’m so glad......and kind of stunned it has been 10 years already!
NARAL also criticized the SUPERBOWL BABIES commercial. Now, I found that creepy as crap, esp bc they had little kids who have no idea what sex even is, singing about what their parents did after the superbowl and that made me uncomf, but NARAL’s criticism is because these were babies allowed to be born!
didn’t see all commercials by any means, but I did like the Ketchup ones where the wiener dogs came running through the field in their buns.
Carolina had the ball on about their own 10 - not only was Scammy hit (one), but he fumbled (two) and the ball rolled into the end zone and Denver scored (three)!!!!
also glad you are in such a good place now, 10 years later!
Too many people don’t like dominating defense.
As I Tweeted last night, they’d rather watch Baylor score 63 points in a loss.
The commercials were horrible - the puppy/monkey/baby one was awful.
i’m sure if it was a team he had any feelings for, he would respect dominating defense, but he just didn’t find it entertaining.
OMG it was nightmarish, who thinks of this stuff and thinks it’s good? I can’t even recall the product, just was horrified at the hybrid monster!
For the abortioners to be whining about a sonogram showing an actual reactive baby is, of course, disgusting but basically they are saying to every woman who had a miscarriage that they didn’t lose a baby. I’d like for one of the many grief groups for women who lost a late term baby to react to NARAL
Exactly! The whole idea of advertising is to recall the product. How sad that the commercials were such a let down
