Ted Cruz is proof that evangelicals will swarm to the candidate that says moderately correct religious stuff and completely ignore the various ways in which the candidate will either expand the state or otherwise keep the status quo. Rhetoric is more important to the conservative Christian base than anything, and said rhetoric is the very thing that blinds them to the statist trends of the GOP.
Those points you just made help to explain that Trump is not a conservative, and that his natural instincts to solve problems in a America will be to grow the government. His temperament, his values, and gut reactions are all Liberal.
Yet your problem appears to be with evangelicals. Hmmm.
IOWs 100% emotionally charged rhetoric beats the guy who has a history of actual policy positions and also professes his faith which might affect some of the voters who share his faith.
I can eat crow ... I use lemon pepper .... if Cruz shows momentum ..... I just don't see the US population as Christian as I want to be ...
Just as we don't see the US population as Conservative as we would want to be
The enemy has been working diligently .... incrementally for a long time ... and we have not been very effective in discipling our friends and neighbors and that's the truth.
It's good to have faith in something! lol
What is it you want done? Show me an example of how Trump, with all his bombast and power, has actually tried to reduce the power of the federal govt that WASN'T tied his making a profit?
Remember Cruz filibustering for 24 hours? How he actually, as a member of the federal govt, tried to reduce it?
Now, picture the two as president. Which one has already tried to do what conservatives demand?
You should know me by now and all I'm saying is ....
If Cruz cannot garner a majority, all our conversation about who's Christian, Evangelical and all the tributarial etcetera's are meaningless
Because we want a President that will get things done and I believe Trump is the best man to get things done
He'll have his advisors, so he'll be held to some check ... but I believe he really loves America (He's sure had a lot of successful fun in our sandbox ... and there's no reason to think he's so idealistic to think he's the end all) ... but I think he sees the writing on the wall .... So he's running for President to protect his investment ...
Which any successful business man will fight to the death to defend.
Yes ... a noble effort

My analysis of you is based on your very first post. The "steel industry" stuff just enlightened it a little bit.
I have no idea how that addresses what I said. Neither of us is running for office. At least I'm not.
How do you tie my comments about the steel industry to having a problem with Evangelicals ?
We, as an American electorate aught to be able to synch ourselves WITH him and expect a more Christianized electorate .... enough to win a nation ... and I don't see it happening
I know for a fact, many Christians (I talk to in my area) LIKE Cruz, but believe Trump will get more accomplished
They're as conflicted as a LOT of Christians about what to do this november
All we know is ... and I have YET to hear anyone say, "We'll get it next time if we don't get it this time"
Trump can get saved .... just like I was pulled up out of the gutter imn '81
I didn't speak well then ... nor did I have all my thoughts aligned scripturally ... BUT I WANTED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND DID ALL THE THINGS THAT LED ME TO A CLOSER RELATIONSHIP WITH DAD, (ABBA)
I'm figuring that someone who is casting-about trying to blame evangelicals for his "issues" (including the steel industry) isn't very well-equipped to discuss either. I'll just chalk it off as you are not thinking very clearly. It is early, for some folks.
Another issue that has received the attention it should is the impending turnover on the Supreme Court. In long run the makeup of the Supreme Court may the most important event for a generation. Which of all the candidates in both parties would you trust select the best nominees to the Supreme Court?
If Trump cannot garner a majority, all our conversation about who’s Rich, who is a Greater negotiator, who is Rich by the way etcetera’s are meaningless.
But being a Christian is NEVER meaningless.
You don't think righteousness will carry the nation?
NOTHING ELSE will carry this nation. You ask for "a bull in a china shop," and want a dictator to continue zer0's method of rule.
I say we've had enough of that and need to go back to the country our founders envisioned. That is an Executive Office that knows its limits and know how to lead. Not one that is power-hungry and just wants to steamroll over its opponents.
Once we go down that road (already on our way there), our country is doomed--just another Rome on a slide to oblivion.
