Despite our views on immigration here, Rubio is a very talented politician. He did pretty good throughout the debates. I think many people got turned off from Trump and Cruz (for different reasons) and looked for the next best option. Frankly, in this field, Rubio probably is the next best option in the big picture. If not him, who would be a third choice? Rand has been non-existent and a little tough to like. Who else? Christie? Kasich? Bush?

I think the almost immediate turn to negativity the moment Cruz said he would end the ethanol mandate (The Governor declared that he wanted Cruz defeated, whatever it takes) and Trump declared his support for the mandate hurt. Rubio was their third choice.

I guess Rubio was lucky that Trump boycotted the last debate. It gave Rubio a chance to show off a lot more of his rhetorical talent than would have been the case had Trump been on stage. And I don’t Trump will make that mistake again!
