DENVER - A developing winter storm is taking aim at Colorado, and it has the potential to be the biggest snowstorm of the season so far, for Denver. The El Niño weather pattern has delivered storms right into our "sweet spot" a few times since November, but Denver has only officially registered more than 3 inches of snow three times.
It will take about 8 inches to take the title. That would beat the 1-day storm total from the middle of December.
Denverâs only storms this season to measure more than 3 inches of snow:
7.7" December 15 4" November 16-17 3.5" January 7-8
This storm has great potential, but it comes with several uncertainties. The available moisture is high, and the storm track is projected to be in just the right location, but any course deviation by the storm will change the areas of greatest snowfall. In the coming days, as the storm takes shape, specific details will become more evident.

Well. just west of Denver the snow has been heavy. Some places in my yard, at 8500 ft elevation have 3 ft snow drifts.Global warming for sure.
In case you want to do a FO ping.
Sorry, typing in the dark. FO should be CO.
Denver (obviously) is on the eastern slopes of the Rockies - and all of its snow melt water on that side of the continental divide heads east down to the Rio Grande, the Mississippi and Missouri, but the snow falling there (most of the time) is comparable tot he snow falling further west - and that snow falls into the Colorado River drain area. So the Hoover Dam and those upstream may get some badly needed refills this winter when the snow melts.
Aw crap.
I pinged my FO list.
Hope they don’t FO over this!
Be safe, FRiend.
This storm arrives in Iowa Tuesday..... 8-12 inches forecast for much of the state.
Our forecast is Saturday 1-3”, Sunday 5-8”, Monday 8-12”. My back hurts already.
My relatives on Long Island, NY received just under 30 inches of snow last weekend. What a mess that was, for a lot of people.
Worst storm I have experienced was 5 1/2 ft. It took me 3 days to dig out, but the snow plows could not get here for another few days.

Didn’t you get the memo? It’s not global warming...it’s climate change.
Strangely..for most of my life I’ve watched the weatherman to find out what the climate change will be every day and now they act like it’s something new that they need to tax us for.
Not Climate Change but Science and History
They’ve been talking about this storm for a few days now on our local news.
A local TV station said tonight that we’d get it on Wednesday. Early projections said that the heavier snow was aiming northwards toward the Twin Cities.
We’ll see, I guess.
Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
“We’re all gonna die! AIEEEEEEEEEEEE!”
Thanks for the ping. Upslope conditions are what will dump snow. We will see.
