Donald turns out to have been pretty much a garden variety liberal with a lot of money, until his more recent interests in national politics. Then he started to change his tone. In a story that is quite interesting to me, actually.

It really hasn’t been all that recent on the issues he is running on.
I would encourage you to read his books, “ The Art of the Deal”, “The America We Deserve”, and “Time To Get Tough - Make America #1 Again”.
Together they tell you who Donald Trump, the man, is and where he comes from.
What I learned about him from reading these books told me I could trust him.
I know there will be some disappointments and I know he will not be able to accomplish 100% of what we want without some “deal making”, meaning compromise, but there are many, many good things about him that make me believe he is the best man for the job at this time.
I think the failure of understanding him is our failure. We try to put him in a category or try label him according to an ideology and that just doesn’t work.
He is neither conservative or liberal in the terms we use for politicians.
He is simply a person who grew up in a hard working, over achieving family.
He spent his youth cleaning garages, painting buildings, and working with his dad. Yes he had a life of some privilege but he was not over indulged.
He was sent to military school and both his classmates and old instructors have nothing but good things to say about him and they all say he was a natural leader even then.
He started flipping apartment buildings when he was still in college in order to afford a better place to live while in school.
Yes, he had advantages, in that his dad was able to lend him the money to get him started but he put in the work to make his ventures successful. He also lost it all and had to start over.
He may not be the Christian we would prefer, he may not have given a lot of thought to abortion or gay marriage, and he may say 2 Corinthians instead of Second Corinthians but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a good man. It also doesn’t mean we know what God has put in his heart.
I do know he loves this country and I know he is loyal. I will take my chances on the rest.
