You've got it absolutely correct. Not a point of contention.

I would submit, they WERE infiltrated. One of the occupants of the refuge supplied inside conversations to federal authorities. This is why they are being charged with conspiracy to...

Again, this wouldn't be a hill I'd choose to defend. Most Americans still have too much to lose. It's not that bad...yet.

These guyz did not think this thing through. Also, it appears they allowed themselves to be lulled into thinking they had free travel to and fro.

I can empathize with their cause to the extent that folks in America are just plain FED up with government intruding into every aspect of our lives, spying on personal communications, tracking folks, surveilling innocent citizens and in some cases oppressing overtly utilizing the IRS, BATF, OSHA and EPA. First case comes to mind, “True the Vote organization” here in Texas. Kathy Engelbreck, or something close to that name.

That said, if we didn't have law enforcement, think about the chaos that would ensue in our communities. I still think the FBI has some good patriotic, hard working folks that do truly care about justice and civil society.

When one feels they need to take a stand...that's their decision, but grandiose illusions of riding away on a white horse after beating your opponent are just not realistic. Chances are, you will lose. You may leave a legacy with those who love you or look up to you, but folks should think of all the consequences.

Some of these guys like the Bundys have wives, children. It is likely they will not see their families for a very long time. Sad really. In their minds, this objective had to be real important to give up so much. Would you not agree?

“this objective had to be real important to give up so much”

Yes, I take that as a given and I am sympathetic to their cause in this case. I would’ve like to see them achieve their goals of getting rid of gov intrusion.

It’s one thing to sit on your own personal property and say something like “I’m not leaving so make me.”, quite another to go to take over another location.

Of course, it’s harder to defend your own “castle” in that circumstance. You’d need immediate support of all your neighbors for one.

But if their only real goal here was to bring attention to an issue, to get renegotiation w/BLM, or get Hammond out of prison, this was not the way to do it,

In fact, if they wanted to use direct and physical means to get a prison release, that’d mean taking over the prison, not a park. Or, arranging an escape, see what I mean?

If BLM, you couldn’t just stop at one park building. You’d have to keep on expanding, and have the force to do it.

Oops, hit post too soon. See prior. To continue:

So if their immediate goal was truly a political one as opposed to a physical one, they should have stuck to that realm. If the goal was truly physical, they not only picked the wrong target, they did it with full disclosure - everyone knew who the mechanics were.

So it seems to me they mixed goals to start with and what was probably impromptu, should’ve been planned a bit better.

I’m sorry to see Finicum killed over this. On the last vid he looked pretty panicked to me but I could be wrong. It would’ve been better to still have him in the fight, so to say.

What perhaps is even sorrier, is that his death probably won’t be widely perceived as sympathetic at the same time real criminals get that sympathy thanks to our communist press.
