That event is in another galaxy far away. Were it to happen to a star “near” us (still many light years away), we’d be fried.

Just going by its power (2.2 x 10^38 watts) vs. the sun's (3.8 x 10^26 watts) it would be as bright as the sun if it was 12 light years away. At about 7600 light years it would be as bright as the full moon.

I would guess that around 1% increase in total light would start making things uncomfortable. That would be at 120 light years.
