A fight and shooting early Saturday in the lobby of a hotel near McCormick Place claimed the life of a 25-year-old man.
Courtney Taylor of the 6800 block of South Paulina Avenue was shot multiple times and was dead at the scene.
Taylor had been among several people fighting in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, 2233 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Dr. around 2:20 a.m., authorities said.

So now these gang fights are spilling over into the lobbies of major hotel chains (like Hyatt), eh? This should do wunders for Chicago tourism.
“Martin Luther King Dr. around 2:20 a.m.”
Martians again, eh?
There is not an MLK Blvd, Drive, Avenue or street in anywhere that is safe after dark.
In the video, I noticed no guns signs posted on the hotel doors.
If you are at the intersection of FDR and MLK you KNOW you are on the wrong side of town!

Nothing good happens after midnight especially on that street.

Memphis: Percent Obama's sons = 63.3%
What DOES this idiot think he's saying? I think he's proving a point he didn't want to prove.
No one has yet to say that “police refuse to patrol hotel lobbies at dark.” Progress.
Don’t care what the name is on the Hotel if it’s on MLK Drive, would you rent a room there?
McCormick Place is the civic/cultural/commercial heart of Chicago, whatever you want to call it. This is where the famous Auto Show is every year, scheduled for Feb 13-21, 2016. At this general location are the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, and Soldier Field. So I say this is a milestone event, unpropitious as it is.
Paraphrasing here:
According to the police, there was a birthday party going on at 2:30 in the morning in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place.
“Someone” pulled out a gun and the gun began to emit bullets.
Mr. Taylor was trying to break up the fight, it is said.
The man who was carrying the gun ran away. He ran northward on what is delicately referred to as “King Drive.”
Many shell casings were found in the area. It is thought that the gun produced them as it fired.
Mr. Taylor is the father of a daughter.
If he was a smoker they could blame it on smoking!
“Many shell casings were found in the area. It is thought that the gun produced them as it fired.”
Huh? Has this been confirmed by a “ballistics expert”?
