Years ago when I joined FR, seems the dialogs were more intellectual, people had a sense of honor not to just call someone who disagreed a vulgar name. I miss the halls and rooms where people can discuss issues that are revelant, and have a great implication for the future. I would wish that people on Free Republic would refrain from posting when they are intoxicated, that would be a good start.
I think what has happened in this country over the last 10 years could be a great big cause of what you are referring to in your post...Just my opinion.....
