I am so sick of the lack of logic used on Free Republic when some argue either for or against Trump or Ted Cruz whom I do not support, or at least a declaratory opinion/argument by a creeper who AT LEAST explains his or her line of reasoning/thinking.
All of the blustern(either made up in someone's mind) or taken directly from either of the campaigns (which are not based ON ANY evidence other than the candidate or a surrogate's opinions are worth NOTHING).
As conservatives, libertarians, tea partiers, Christians, constitutionalists, nationalists/Proud Americans, Republicans, yes even some moderates, shouldn't we at least try to elevate the conversation when we debate? Let's try out reason, logic, respect and facts, huh?
While we're at it can we cut out the snark, name calling and personal attacks that have become the norm around here just because someone supports a candidate you don't like! I'll admit that I am not guilt free on this charge, and to anyone I have personally offended occasionally either intentionally or not I ask forgiveness. I try to keep my conversations civil as both a. Christian and conservative.

If it’s the FReeper Ball I’m thinking of, it was 2001, the night of the Inaugural Ball, saying “buh BYE” to the Clintons (and telling them to return the White House silverware). I was living in Corning, NY, at the time, and my boss gave me a ticket to Bush’s inauguration. Wasn’t able to use it but I think I still have it in my Stack Of Stuff.
Corning is my hometown, was just there yesterday.
Loved Corning. Worked there at HQ. My family’s homestead is to the west, in Friendship.
And give up years of campaign season purges, pogroms and pissing contests? What are you, nuts? We're talking tradition here.
I don’t know...
I can’t recall purported FReepers posting pics of Jonestown with “Cruzers” emblazoned over the dead bodies...or posting the National Suicide phone number.
The atmosphere is not so much “rough and tumble”, things are more like scorched earth.
I agree but let me advance a theory. In the past, we haven’t really had a choice. Every time we backed a candidate, the press & GOPe would destroy them.
It’s possible that now, even friendly fire brings back memories of that abuse and people are justifiably angry, even desperate to have a choice.
How’s that for Monday morning psych babble.
Pretty good...;^)
However, under it, is a gif of a huge IED going off blowing up several vehicles. On the off chance that is an insurgent video taken of Coalition Forces being killed, I would draw the line and ask the poster to refrain from transmitting this grim event in the name of Trump support, or support for ANYTHING, as there is zero entertainment value in said deaths being recorded.
Now if an insurgent is taking one to the head in an appropriate thread, meaning keeping it in context- no problem, but our guys should be off limits.
I asked the poster in private freep mail if they happened to know who was getting smoked? It's only been about 12 hours since I contacted them, so hopefully they will self censure their effort for the sake of civility. I mean, a line ought to be drawn at some point with this battle royale in cyber space. I'm not a thread cop, nor do I play one on tv, but I did serve in uniform and this thing is gnawing at me- the more I see it being transmitted here at FR.
I meant to say- self censor. Ironically, it appears that I censured the poster, in my effort, and glaringly failed to notify said poster as is freeper protocol. For this transgression I duly apologize, and herewith serve notice. See post # 129.
Yeah, I can see how that could rub folks the wrong way. I know I wouldn’t appreciate a parody that uses the deaths or injuries of our troops as part of the “message”.
In the natural exuberance and excitement, sometimes folks just don’t ponder on what they’re about to post.
Usually, upon reflection, they regret it and have it taken down. Usually.
