Businessman Donald Trump says he is pro-life and wants to de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business. He's vocal on just about every topic and is ready to offer a quip at a moment's notice on anything that concerns him, the presidential campaign of politics.
But Trump is remarkably silent today on the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade. His campaign has issued no statement from him on the 58 million unborn babies killed in abortion, he's not addressed pro-life topics today in any interviews and the prolific tweeter hasn't said a word on Twitter or even RTd a statement or picture from anyone else opposing abortion.
His silence has resulted in a top pro-life U.S. Senator challenging him to speak out for unborn children on today - the day that the majority of Americans who are pro-life solemnly recall the dreadful Supreme Court decision that ushered in an era of virtually unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy for any reason.
SIGN THE NEW PLEDGE: I Pledge to Vote for a Pro-Life Candidate for President
Senator Joni Ernst, a pro-life Republican who happens to hail from the site of the first presidential caucus, Iowa, told the Weekly Stndard that Trump needs to speak out. She also wants Trump to talk about where he stands on the monumentally important issue of Supreme Court judges - key to whether or not America will suffer from abortion on demand another 43 years.
Ahead of her speech at the March for Life on Friday, Iowa GOP senator Joni Ernst said that Donald Trump should tell voters where he stands on Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that declared a right to abortion-on-demand.
"It is extremely importantâextremely importantâ to have a president who would "appoint judges that understand that Roe v. Wade really wasn't a decision that was based on the Constitution," Ernst told THE WEEKLY STANDARD during an interview in her Senate office Friday morning.
Asked if Trump should tell voters his position on the issue, Ernst replied that Republican candidates "need to spell that out. They should know where they stand. They're running for the office of president. They should know where they stand on this issue because it is so important."
Unfortunately, Trump's campaign is not responding to pro-life news sources like The Weekly Standard about more details on his pro-life positions on abortion and Supreme Court judges.
"Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks has not replied to emails from TWS asking for clarification on these points," TWS reporter John McCormack wrote.
If Trump wants pro-life voters to take his views seriously, he needs to speak our more frequently and more thoroughly on abortion - especially on a day when America is mourning 58 million aborted babies.
No surprise, if Trump is pro life, I am a Muslim.
Trump can’t be bothered to speak up for the unborn on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Trump is definitely not on our side.
You are a Muslim.
Trump is running on jobs not anti-abortion.
You need to change congress a lot more before you can make progress on abortion.

HIs supporters don’t care.
Shameful, really.
Jim, what do you think of the fact that Trump is being completely silent on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade? He has not released any statement about the horrors of abortion even though Iowa Senator Joni Ernst has called on him to do so.
He never mentions the abortion issue. He is too busy slamming decent people in his profanity-laced stump speeches.
Why is Trump not speaking up for the unborn. Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst has called on him to release one and yet he still is silent even though it would help him in Iowa.
It is not one of the “issues” on his site either.
So did all other GOP candidates speak out or are we just picking on Trump?
He doesn’t speak up for the unborn, because they are losers.
Trump likes babies that are born, not killed in the womb.
Come on people, we are all pro winners now and anti losers!!!
Damn shame. Also a damn shame that the Republican establishment has done nothing to stop abortion.
LOL, got a mirror?
You need to change congress a lot more before you can make progress on abortion.
But I was just told by a Trump supporter, and I quote, "I have no doubt Trump can handle the quislings in Congress with no problems.". Which is it Trump is superman and can handle congress with no problems or, you need to change congress a lot first?
From what I have observed so far Trump is running on, immigration, jobs and everything including the kitchen sink, oh and insults, let's not forget the insults. Now Trump is saying he'll make deals. I want him to start making some reality based statements I can comfortably get behind not the typical promise the moon crap.
I agree with you on both points.
Cruz spoke up for the unborn. Here is the statement that he released.
HOUSTON, Texas â Today, Presidential candidate Ted Cruz releases the following statement in support of the 2016 March for Life:
âOn the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, thousands of sojourners march for life in Washington, D.C.
âOur hearts are heavy as we remember that grave decision â one that has wrongfully denied more than 56 million unborn children the right to life. No judge, president, or lawmaker has any authority to disregard life as knit together by God. We should instead embrace life as a precious gift from God and do everything within our power to defend the most vulnerable among us. This is a question of national character, and an opportunity for families, churches, and communities to stand united and restore the promise of the Declaration.
âMillions of Americans recognize the fundamental right to life, and they have fought tirelessly to rectify this injustice and defend the unborn. Their heroic efforts continue to speak the truth in love and make great strides in restoring the sanctity of life throughout the 50 states. I thank them for their unwavering stand for life. Together, we will bend the arc of history towards justice.â
In light of both Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the Roe v. Wade anniversary this week, Ted Cruz penned an op-ed in The Resurgent. See excerpt below:
âWe cannot neglect the current climb towards justice for all â especially for children.
âJust five years after Reverend Kingâs death, another grave injustice stained our nation. The Supreme Court ruled that unborn children have no right to life. That decision defied the very essence of freedom â without life, there is no liberty. Without life, there is no pursuit of happiness. Yet, since Roe v. Wade, that right has been snatched away from 56 million unborn children.
âAs Reverend Kingâs niece, Dr. Alveda King, has rightly stated: âAbortion and racism are evil twins, born of the same lie.â The lie that there is no inherent worth in humanity. The lie that some people do not deserve the chance to become the next musicians, scientists, architects, leaders, and service members. The lie that not every life is equally valuable to our Creator.
âThis is the lie that Reverend King devoted his life to not simply dispelling, but to displaying to the world its utter perversion. He did so powerfully â with grace and conviction. Today, we are called to do the same with any degradation of human dignity.
âThis week, as thousands gather from across the country to march for life, passing those same steps upon which Martin Luther King, Jr. stood, let us remember his call: âNow is the time to make justice a reality to all of Godâs children.â
âMay we honor this noble wish by cherishing each life â born and unborn â and by working tirelessly to defend those who cannot defend themselves. So that we march onwards and upwards, grounded in prayer and inspired by truth, to recognize the gift of life.â
