Woody Guthrie wrote:
I suppose
Old Man Trump knows
Just how much
Racial Hate
he stirred up
In the bloodpot of human hearts
When he drawed
That color line
Here at his
Eighteen hundred family project ....
And as if to leave no doubt over Trumpâs personal culpability in perpetuating black Americansâ status as internal refugees â strangers in their own strange land â Guthrie reworked his signature Dust Bowl ballad âI Ainât Got No Homeâ into a blistering broadside against his landlord:
Beach Haven ain’t my home!
I just cain’t pay this rent!
My money’s down the drain!
And my soul is badly bent!
Beach Haven looks like heaven
Where no black ones come to roam!
No, no, no! Old Man Trump!
Old Beach Haven ain’t my home!
Donald Trump once said:
“My legacy has its roots in my fatherâs legacy.”
I’m sure that apple didn’t stray far from the tree, Donald
I know a lot about Woody Guthrie because of a condition that also appeared in my family and I have researched his.
Old Man Trump was apparently not a beneficent angel to the people who lived in his project.
Anyway, he probably Got Things Done.
