Donald Trump Defends Mitch McConnell Against Ted Cruz
The Resurgent ^ | 1/20/2016 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 01/20/2016 12:09:15 PM PST by conservativejoy

Is Donald switching teams again? A while back he said he had been on the establishment team, but had flipped against them. Yesterday, he attacked Ted Cruz for daring to truthfully point out Mitch McConnell had lied to conservatives.

That does not sound very anti-establishment to me. Defending Mitch McConnell is a defense of the establishment. It is also bad form.

Cruz was right. McConnell was lying and had been lying to conservatives. Him pointing it out on the Senate floor was necessary to expose McConnell. Trump is wrong to attack him for that.

This is just more evidence that Trump and the establishment are cozying up to stop Cruz.

Trump is right. Sorry that most Americans just don’t get it. Once Trump is President he must reshape McConnell’s as he must to many of the lame Republicans. Trump cannot just fire the entire Republican bunch, but must rework them.

Trump for President. The President can take even the border line Republicans and convert them. It has to be that way. McConnell was put as Senate majority leader by the Republicans in the Senate not by the President. Cruz is an ars.

Is Donald Trump so ideologically illiterate that he does not even know that he is attacking Ted Cruz from the left? Does Donald Trump know that he runs as an antiestablishment candidate by attacking those who attacked the establishment?

My first reply describing Donald Trump said that he is ideologically incoherent and he plays that out every day in the newspaper just as he had every day in his biography.

Put Donald Trump in power and we will have ideological chaos. We will not have conservative governance.

I’m not happy about MC Connell and half of all of those moronic idiots, but you don’t expect to be treated like that and then wonder why ‘your not liked’

Ted Cruz needs to grow up and deal with life!!!

Sounds like how McCain plays maverick then “works with people”.

McConnell decided to “work with” the other side he promised to “oppose” if elected. How dare Cruz hold him to account with the voters.

Are you really wanted more “reaching across the aisle”?

Liberal Donald Trump was/is a big fan of RINO McConnell, so much so he wanted him as "speaker" of the senate.

That's why Cruz is NOT liked, telling these people who have had more experience in government and life he was the 'new man in town'...how disgusting was that!!!

Would you care to provide a link to that "quote" from Cruz? I did a Google search and I couldn't find any article quoting Cruz as having said that,

And TRUMP’S (PBUH) supporters will certainly begin to support Mitch McConnell from the “nastiness” of Ted Cruz. Oh, how conservatism has fallen.

[Compare with Rush Limbaugh or others who can make equally passionate defenses of conservative principles, but who also have the social skills to get along with others]

I have never heard any GOPe speak about Rush Limbaugh with glowing accolades.

Last summer there was a post about George Soros financing Trump’s Chicago Tower (the on Sarah Palin mentioned in her endorsement speech).

I missed that back in the summer. I wonder how many others didn’t see it. It garnered few responses.

The contractor works for the financiers. The same logic that says Ted Cruz is owned by Goldman-Sachs says Trump is owned by Soros.

Can’t argue one without accepting the other.

Trump has maintained association with Soros and Soros associates since then.

Its beyond GOPe, it’s Uniparty stuff.

BWahahahahaha!!!

You get to be "liked" by the likes of McConnell by being a big-government socialist like McConnell.

I'm not happy about MC Connell and half of all of those moronic idiots,

But you still want to be "liked" by them.

There's only one way to do that ...

BOHICA

Another GOPe “Conservative” mouthpiece heard from. Eric “where arrogance meets incompetence” Erickson.

What Trump said was Cruz going to the Senate floor to call his leadership liars was not at all a smart political move.

Cruz was making a grandstanding political ploy on the Senate floor. it was done for a single reason, to allow him to preen as being “Willing to take on his own side” in his political ads. It was great Kabuiki theater for the true believers but utterly stupid politically.

Love that the same “Conservatives” who were so completely pissed with McCain for using these “take on my side” theatrics against the GOP Leadership in 2004-2008 think Cruz is some sort of political god for using the same tactics.

Because you have to WORK with people

The GOP has been doing a lot of that over the last seven years with Hussein...and to the detriment of our Republic. At least Cruz had the temerity to stand up and be counted as one against the D.C. elites. Isn't that one of the reasons Trump is so appealing to many conservatives?

Trump will reshape no one. Trump will “work with” them to make as many “deals” as possible.

Cruz isn’t liked because he won’t support the GOPe agenda.

Pure and simple.

They don’t want people to work with them. Every compromise is in their favor and never in favor of conservatives.

Does Donald Trump know that he runs as an antiestablishment candidate

The great hoax of this campaign is the person born with a silver spoon in his mouth, inheritor of millions of dollars, donator of money to Dems, Repubs & Al Sharpton, claiming to be "anti-establishment"
