“The United States and Iran today have settled a long outstanding claim at the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal in the Hague,†the statement from Secretary of State John Kerry reads. “This specific claim was in the amount of a $400 million Trust Fund used by Iran to purchase military equipment from the United States prior to the break in diplomatic ties.â€
The claim was first filed in 1981 when Iran had an outstanding order for military equipment under the regime, which the U.S. refused to fill after the Iranian revolution. The payment is in addition to the $100 to $150 billion of Iranian assets the United States agreed to unfreeze as part of the Iranian nuclear agreement.

At the START of the nuke deal negotiations 0blama COULD HAVE insisted the deal not go forward UNLESS the hostage are released by Iran.
INSTEAD, 0blama conspired with Iran to LINK the hostage releases to the payment of $150 BILLION IN ORDER TO SEND A MESSAGE TO HIS TERRORIST BROTHERS throughout the world THAT THE U.S. PAYS GOOD MONEY FOR HOSTAGES! As a matter of fact THE HOSTAGE TAKING HAS ALREADY BEGUN.. In Baghdad just hours after the hostage release by Iran, at least 3 Americans have been taken hostage by an Islamist group..
America must be hypnotized or something.. Not long ago such a president and his minions would've been arrested and thrown in prison for such TREASON!

Yes. If he had said there would be no negotiation the lifting of sanctions until hostages are released that would be different. Could still be suspicious if the deal happened soon afterward, but at least more legit. This was so obviously about the other money, though he claims it was about trading hostages.
Speaking of trading, why are Obama and Kerry so BAD AT IT? Why do we always have to give a whole lot more than the other side?

Yeah.. WE stamped it out real good.. If we had a couple extra nukes in 1945, I can think of a couple additional sites that could have ‘used’ them and saved hundreds of millions.

Back when we took the Iranians money, didn’t we put it in a bank or something or did we spend it? If it is in a bank then they get whatever is in the bank. I don’t know why we are taking other countries money anyway. Since when is America a country who steals money? I guess with the last 4 Presidents, anything is possible.
Paid under what appropriation?
Heck, we aren’t going to ever use nuclear weapons, we know that.
Granted, if someone sets off a nuke in one of our cities, those rules will change.
