In all fairness, Reagan had the Marine Barracks in Lebanon and we just pulled out. No retribution equal to the Attack.
In all honesty, there is no comparison. The Beirut bombing was not an actual “Alamo in progress” with American’s calling out for immediate rescue, lest they be totally overrun and die.
I see that as different. In war, shit happens. In Beirut, they bombed our barracks unexpectedly and Reagan withdrew. He didn’t leave his men there to fight on their own or withhold requests for support. Nor did he initiate a propaganda campaign to defer responsibility.
Also, in all fairness, it’s not the same thing. The Marines in Beirut weren’t betrayed by their country. The bomb in Beirut exploded. End of story. The Americans in Benghazi requested help from their countrymen while they were fighting for their lives and were told to suck it up.
WTF? Yeah. My thoughts exactly.
I'm STILL pissed off at Reagan for that swell smack-down, that we DIDN'T give to those responsible (IRAN) for killing our US Marines (OCT 23rd) in Beirut, AND the French Paras. in a separate attack occurring just 10 minutes later.
I was in a barracks about a quarter mile from Pope AFB's runways, and all night long (OCT 24th into OCT 25th) C-5 Galaxies and troop transport trucks came and went, signifying that an RDF was outbound. To a man, everyone around me was high fiving each other because we knew that payback for the murderers was underway. Imagine the shock and confusion when we learned that we had not gone to Beirut, but Grenada! GRRR!!!
If there is ANY country deserving an ass whipping by the USA, it's those Shiite muslim mo--er fu---rs.
End of RANT.
