You and FN have left a lot of interesting information here. I have done a lot of reading the thinking about the interactions of earthquakes, volcanoes, bolids (comets, meteors and asteroids), and tsunamis they can cause. Also throw in full and new moons. I don’t have time right now for detailed comment, but here are several items that might be pertinent. It seems we have periods when earthquakes, volcanoes, or bolids may be stronger or more widespread than usual. For example the destruction of Lisbon, Portugal, 1755 if I remember correctly. The strongest EQ in Boston ever recorded one month later. Strong EQs in north Africa also reported. The years with no sun and dim skies reported by Cassiodorus, 535 AD, Signs of multiple bolids hitting earth around the same time. See Sunken Civs posting of Firestone’s book, I think earlier on this post. I’ll be back with more details later. Meanwhile, have there been any of these magnetic reversals in historic times? Could some reports of sun rising from West be an incoming major bolid? Correlating the many phenomena listed by mdmathis6 and Fred Nerks with actual dates or centuries would be useful for connecting to knowledge we now have that Velikovsky did not have such as tree rings and ice cores, meteor craters, etc.

The magnetic North Pole appears to be shifting without any great ill effects and has probably done so for countless millennia, driven by extra-terrestrial (universal)forces. But what to I know, I am not a lawyer lol...but I do notice that the ice cover in the arctic appears to be influenced in some way by this phenomenon:

Would not surprise me to find that the same applies to the Antarctic...less snow-fall/ice in the East, more in the West of that huge continent. Must check.
A massive comet, the trajectory of which brought it close to the planet a number of times, trailing debris which ultimately enveloped earth and slowed, then stopped, its rotation (days of total darkness) might have this effect. Ancient astronomy points to this. The Egyptians had different names for the Sun which rose in the East and the Sun which rose in the West.
The Chinese say that the oceans rose above the mountains and swept away everything, flooding the valleys. There is an interesting mural which appears to illustrate this legend:

Note the dragon...

I had been trying to work up something on the NJ Pine Barrens — there’s a school of thought that it and the similar barrens along the eastern seaboard were formed by a tsunami in PreColumbian times.
