I have a home in Bloomington, IL but am now a resident of GA. Illinois has no reciprocy. I’m told I can still get a license with a canceled bill, and maybe I will.

Get a Georgia permit.

With a Georgia permit, you can carry in your car in Illinois.

Even without a permit, you can carry an unloaded gun in a case in Illinois.

The options are explored at the link.

You’re right that Illinois does not have reciprocity. I think it should, but it doesn’t. Illinois voters need to retire Assembly Speaker Mike Madigan, a notorious Chicago machine politician, before any reciprocity would even be considered.
