If yes, what evidence can you cite, and what explanation can you offer? I was prompted to ask because I find myself facing much greater temptation in recent months, precisely when my personal circumstances suggest that I should be facing much less temptation. This makes no sense, so I seeking an explanation. My initial question suggests one possible answer: that God and His agents as well as Satan and his agents are increasing their efforts to control people's souls. I am sure FReepers can suggest other answers.
I will not elaborate on the temptation I'm facing other than to say this: I have not yielded to it.
I welcome all input from the dogmatic to the philosophical to the secular. I think the topic is a fascinating one.
Thank you in advance.
Interesting question. It could very well be that this is the case in your life and might not be the case in someone else’s.
Its visibility is certainly intensifying.
so...how old is she?
As always, prayer. Go to the book of Job and read it through.
Yes, and evil is winning in this world right now. However I read the end of the book, good wins in the end.
Agreed. That is why I was wondering if other people are experiencing the same thing.
It’s not intensifying, it’s that we’re losing the battle.
There does seem to be a wide divide between what is right and what is wrong. What is wrong seems to have almost totally taken over this country and maybe the entire world.
Before Clinton, I never in my wildest nightmare would have dreamed that this country would have elected a Marxist, racist, Muslim, monster as president then reelected the same one.
This guy is what the Anti-Christ sounds like to me.
What makes you think there is only one?
(Just kidding)
Make that Hell Yes, no pun intended.
Since we cannot see the sprit world empherical data must suffice. Are the people of the world now living more or less in agreement with the ten commandments than the people of fifty years ago? By this I mean living in conformance with the requirements and cutting across religious lines. I believe we are a more evil people than we we were fifty years ago and I believe the people of the world are also. So we could conclude the evil side of the sprit world is more active and successful than it used to be or we are simply weaker at resisting it than we used to be.
Good advice. Thanks.
Hard for me to say. I didn’t live through WWII. That was pretty intense, and the opponent was both evil incarnate and very smart.
I agree with your points entirely. It is mystifying when western leaders consistently act contrary to the interests of their people. What evil force is compelling such actions?
Ephesians 6:12 - For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].
I have struggled with staying as vibrant and close to God as I’ve felt in the past. My mind wanders when I read the Bible and again when I pray. It seems I really have to work at maintaining a close and intimate connection to Him. It has caused me to wonder if the Holy Spirit (The Restrainer)is slowly leaving this old planet and that . . in due time . . true Evil will be revealed as never before. God is holding back right now. Once he removes the holding back âthen the lawless one will be revealedâ (2 Thess.2:8)
Related question: why does the Lords Prayer include “and lead us not unto temptation”? Why would God lead us to temptation? Does this suggest some kind of test?
Having been quite successful in several ways, I am curious what circumstances you think would lead to less temptation. After marrying my beautiful, fun, nice, and smart (one and only, forsaking all others, until death do us part) wife, I encountered far more feminine temptation - women who were shockingly more forward because I was married. Where were they when I was single???
After becoming financially quite well off, I encountered even more temptations (both female and financial), again apparently because of my good fortune. Everything that has gone well has led to more temptation. So far, even when it was a struggle, I have resisted the temptations that have increased. So far I have not regretted choosing to let God guide my life (okay, brief regrets a few times, but not in the long run).
I hope you are similarly blessed. I hope that your circumstances are also positive, and that you have the strength to do the right thing.
