The President can’t raise tariffs anyway, but what does it tell you that Trump thinks he can?
Trump’s a negotiator. That’s his high bid.

Magic pen?
The fact is that we send less than $9 Billion a month in trade goods to China and import more than $45 Billion. They have lots more to fear of us than we do of them. Much of the goods we send them are raw materials they need for production and electricity, primarily steam and metallurgical coal. Without our coal they would suffer immeasurably by having to import from other sources.
We can absorb that loss of trade with a slight head shack and fart. They would collapse without two things
The American Market and The U.S. Navy protecting their trade routes.
They would fold like a cheap suit and if they didn't so be it, they will collapse. They are already in a deep recession!
Raising a tariff just requires an executive order doesn’t it??? It’s a whole new world. We can do anything by executive order.
