Trump is just as likely as Clinton to win the nomination, professor finds

Hillary Clinton isn't the only candidate who could be a shoo-in for her party's nomination this presidential election. Princeton Professor Sam Wang says that an analysis of existing and past poll data has led him to this conclusion: "Donald Trump is in as strong a position to get his party's nomination as Hillary Clinton in 2016, George W. Bush in 2000, or Al Gore in 2000."

While Wang acknowledges that Trump's candidacy is a bit different than the other examples he cites - he doesn't have the establishment behind him, for example - Wang says the data does skew decidedly in Trump's favor.

In each of the presidential elections since 2000, candidates that ranked first or second in both national polls and surveys in Iowa and New Hampshire were almost always the ones to win the nomination. In fact, the only candidate in the last four elections that proved to be the exception was Democratic nominee John Kerry in 2004, who was No. 4 nationally and No. 3 in Iowa. In New Hampshire, he clenched the No. 1 spot.

Out of the 2016 Republican field, Trump is the only candidate with all No. 1 and No. 2 rankings. The only candidate close to Trump is Ted Cruz — but he has a No. 3 ranking in New Hampshire.

There is still the FBI Elephant in Clinton’s room. Heard a well informed Washington Attorney yesterday who said the FBI is closing in on Hillary and her top aides. He says the intensity of pressure on the AG Lynch will make it almost impossible for her not to indict. He also said the next 60 days will be the critical time frame. Stay tuned!

If you go to working Democrats (not college geeks or unemployed) and ask them over a friendly drink....at least a quarter will say that they are strongly favoring Trump. The news media doesn’t say much about this, but its obvious that people are looking beyond the last two decades and want some business expert to run the country in a totally different way.

I have to believe the Democrats have a “Plan B” involving Biden and I am surprised that some media snoopers aren’t chasing that story.

What about that old commie, Sanders? Yesterday he announced he’s going to break up all the banks and spend the money on free college for everyone. That should buy the votes of all the ignorant pond scum floating in our universities…both students and professors.

Biden has the luxury of being an incumbent. Lots of traction comes with that.

Staying COMPLETELY out of the picture, allows all energy and mud to be expelled at Hillary.

Once she has been used up, Biden can come in as a sort of savior to the democrats. Thus avoiding 6-9 months of bashing.

Plus, with Hillary beaten up, the Dems/Biden will be viewed as underdogs. IE the sympathy/outrage vote.

I thought Biden would be a shoe-in on the Dem side. He is certainly way more likable than Hillary. But it seems he chose to sit this one out. Maybe due to the death of his son, maybe he's just ready to retire. Who knows.

I know a few Dems who are now for Trump. I’ll wager I’m not alone here. Even most Dems need jobs : )

Biden was run out of town for lying and even stealing speeches verbatim when he ran for POTUS. He is finished.

The more this elections things shake out, the more that I am convinced that we not only need Trump, we need a huge army of Trumps all the way from municipal and local elections, but at the same time, start right now preparing for the next congressional elections and sweep ALL GOPe elected criminals permanently out of office. Of course, also all the low IQ elected dimocrats.

When, ever, in the history of the country did we accept that zero knowledge or achievement outside of criminal public service was acceptable to qualify for public office?

I do not know ALL of the black members of Congress (both houses), but the ones who are mostly in the news that I know about are unqualified by knowledge of anything aside from activism, and lack judgement to run the Hells Angels, never mind "rule" over 300,000,000 citizens and legal residents. of the U.S.

When did we allow members of Congress to vote themselves perks not available to their bosses, We the People?

When cutbacks become inevitable, the government and the bureaucracy should all be cut back 50% from the bottom up.
The biggest mistake that the electorate has made in recent memory is to allow deficit spending in ANY form. The criminals do their thing, then retire a few steps ahead of criminal prosecution.
Yes, the working, non-government, income tax paying electorate, collectively, is stupid. Economically, deer in the headlights.

Does it matter that Biden didn’t file for the nomination in any state or can the party nominate him?
