Rumors here in CLE:
1. Johnny was not in the concussion protocol. He showed up at a meeting “inebriated” and was sent home.
2. Johnny did not answer his phone when the Browns tried to contact him regarding the Vegas trip.
3. Johnny’s trip was an intentional move to ensure he gets out of Cleveland.
All rumors, but the press are asking about them and radio hosts are giving them air time.
Meanwhile we fired our coach and GM. Just internally promoted our lawyer salary cap guy to have final say on all personnel decisions (including the draft) and are pursuing our new head coach BEFORE pursuing a new GM.
MAKE THAT LITTLE TURD Manziel come back here then put him on the inactive roster next year and let him rot. To let that turd dictate to these teams would be ridiculous!
Why hire a new coach before a new GM?
As a Colts fan, I look at our season this year - the injuries, the conflicts, the embarrassing blowout losses, the leadership vacuum, being shut out of the playoffs in the most painful way possible - and get really depressed.
Then I say to myself, “Self, all things considered, a Browns fan would probably take this shitty season in a heartbeat.” Then I don’t feel so bad.
Seriously, bro, that’s a hard hand you’ve been dealt.
the last two disasters making draft selections for the Jets were capologists (Idzik and Tannebaum)...
btw- looks like Haslam took the first step in trying to void the remainder of the contract:
Johnny Manziel failed to check in with Browns’ medical staff Sunday
Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel failed to check in with medical staff Sunday morning at the team’s facility, as players with concussions are required to do, team owner Jimmy Haslam said Sunday night.
Haslam said he did not know if Manziel had been in Las Vegas, after rumors surfaced Saturday night that Manziel was seen at a casino.
“I haven’t seen Johnny and I’m not sure if those reports are accurate or not,” Haslam said. “As I’ve told you, we expect a lot out of players on the field, and I’ll just leave it at that.”
But a Browns executive tells ESPN’s Adam Schefter that after looking into the rumors, the team believes that Manziel was not there.
Another source familiar with the situation told Schefter, “Obviously, there’s been some miscommunication as to what concussed players’ schedules and requirements are.”
Manziel was not required to be at the Browns’ season-ending game against Pittsburgh, but his missed treatment and his off-field behavior the past month has not endeared him to the team.
Johnny foots ball is making a huge error. Not only will this impact how he is seen by any team he plays on (most players are very professional) he will be unable to leverage one team against another when looking for the best contract. If he kept his nose clean, improved yearly and led his team....20+ million per year. Threw it all away for a good time, and liver damage.
Doesn’t he have an $8M GUARANTEED contract?
I guess he plans on never playing football again. Who would want him? You don’t “do” this to teammates. You show up; you interact—even in a warm up suit.
Most players are professionals, want to win, and reign in their “own.” Don’t the Browns have a locker room leader to kick his sorry butt? I can’t help but think a James Harrison type wouldn’t have enough of Johnny and take care of straightening him out.
I think Johnny’s master plan is that he gets let go by Cleveland and gets picked up by Dallas. As stupid as it sounds....he may be thinking that in Texas...he’ll have a golden ticket. My humble feeling is that this might be the end of football for Johnny....no one will want to touch the guy, and he ends up as some insurance sales guy in Topeka, Kansas.
