SOMERSWORTH — Democratic presidential hopeful Martin O’Malley told a crowd in Somersworth he will take on the NRA.

Speaking to about 50 people at a gathering of the Somersworth Democratic Committee, O’Malley said the country has become passive in the wake of so many mass shootings.

“One day it is Planned Parenthood, another day it is a church basement, then a school shooting,” O’Malley said. “Can you imagine what we would be doing as a nation if it was ISOL (ISIS) carrying out these attacks, rather than our own people?”

O’Malley said he doesn’t know what it will take to shake the country out of its lethargy.

“We’ve become passive as if we are going to have to deal with this particular congress and the NRA’s clout forever,” O’Malley said. “I don’t think the NRA is as strong as the rest of us. So I intend to take them on.”

Funny how he left the San Bernardino shootings off his list of "our own people" shootings.

I don't consider those two muslim pieces of pig $h!t to be 'our own'.

I actually had to explain to a less conservative family member (they are actually leaning towards Trump) over Christmas that the term “Gun Lobby” is wrong.

They were sure the NRA was a lobby for manufacturers—Smith & Wesson, Colt, Baretta, Ruger, etc.—to push their products, much like the Tobacco Lobby did for Philip Morris, et al.

I patiently explained that the NRA is made up of millions of individual members—like myself—that promote our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

They had to look it up.

After they did, they had an epiphany. Why had they believed the NRA was a manufacturer’s organization? They were told this, sometime in their past. They were misled by their teachers, democrats and the news media.

I then asked them what else were they mislead on? This lead to more conversations—global warming, Muslims, socialism, big government’s destructive economics, etc. etc.

Score another one for the conservative side!

Taking on the NRA is one thing. Taking mine is another. FUMM.

And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If, if, We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more - we had no awareness of the real situation - We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.

Describing O’Malley as an idiot is wholly insufficient but it’ll have to do for now.

Well it’s a good start. Like the old joke that a bus full of lawyers went over the cliff and all were lost. That was a good start also.

Maybe he should take on black culture if he wants to stop the murders.

More women than ever buying guns and getting training and CCW permit applications through the roof and the country's passive. Eh, what?

I hope this fool has an epiphany and leaves the campaign to wander the wilderness apologizing for being so ignorant and worthless. What a uber-loser.

That would be the best possible outcome but we’ll never be that lucky. Why can’t the earth just open up and swallow ALL OF THEM? Did any of us ever foresee the day when power meant more to politicians than our country? I’ll be in my 8th decade this year and I have to say I never thought of it and I’ve been paying attention... Lots of good years behind me but my word - the last 7 - NO THANK YOU! All I can say is our poor kids and grandkids and great grandkids....

But will they forgive their elders for allowing this mess to begin with? Probably as I don’t think we ever thought to blame any of our ancestors for troubles the country went through - UNLESS we were brought here as slaves and then we would still be blaming OTHERS!!!!
