The JMS book on scriptwriting has a very good but condensed history of early television.

I worked in public TV for about a decade and worked with vintage quad to then modern digital beta and DVC Pro.

As a child, I met some people who worked in early T.V., so I was able to ask them all kinds of questions, when they visited my parents. I’m talking 1949-1950.
