Patsy Cline was a “crossover” artist; meaning, of course, she had simultaneous hits on both popular and country charts, but she never lost her identity as a country (or Country and Western as they called them then) singer.

That’s what I mean; she just didn’t souñd country enough for c&w people to be so crazy about her.. and there were much better pop singers around.
