Rest assured, TCU fans will remember the 2015 Alamo Bowl â a game that will see their quarterback mired in controversy.
Trevone Boykin was arrested early Thursday morning in San Antonio, according to News 4 San Antonio. This comes just two days before the Valero Alamo Bowl between No. 11 TCU and No. 15 Oregon kicks off as one of the bowl season's marquee matchups. According to the report, San Antonio police claim Boykin was arrested after hitting a patrol officer following a fight at Pat O'Brien's â a New Orleans-themed night club on Alamo Plaza.
The San Antonio NBC affiliate reports that Boykin's actions began when people at the bar recognized the TCU quarterback. An errant punch from Boykin, reportedly, missed its intended target and struck a bar employee. Police apparently tried to break up the fight, at which point a still-swinging Boykin hit an officer. Officers threatened to tase Boykin before he finally subsided.
The NBC affiliate in Dallas-Fort Worth specifically reports that the patrons inside the bar did not just recognized Boykin, but "started talking trash." According to that NBC 5 report, Boykin was taken to the ground by multiple officers.
He has been charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest and assaulting a public official.

Absolutely. That is really dumb.
According to Texas law, a felony like this comes with a minimum sentence of 2 years. However, we all know that won’t happen. He will get off with a slap on the wrist. Some think this isn’t that big of a deal, but it probably is to the cop who got punched in the face.
I can’t believe how some of his teammates & trainers are defending this guy! He may have ruined their chances at a bowl game win and they are feeling sorry for him.
One of the worst was somebody (trainer or coach) who said he was sorry this happened to Boykin, as if aliens make him do it. We had a relative (now deceased) who used to go into rages and scream at everyone then later his apology was “I’m sorry it happened”. Such BS.

Also, it was great seeing what TCU was still able to do in the game. Will certainly be a great story for the backup the rest of his life.
