Rest assured, TCU fans will remember the 2015 Alamo Bowl â a game that will see their quarterback mired in controversy.
Trevone Boykin was arrested early Thursday morning in San Antonio, according to News 4 San Antonio. This comes just two days before the Valero Alamo Bowl between No. 11 TCU and No. 15 Oregon kicks off as one of the bowl season's marquee matchups. According to the report, San Antonio police claim Boykin was arrested after hitting a patrol officer following a fight at Pat O'Brien's â a New Orleans-themed night club on Alamo Plaza.
The San Antonio NBC affiliate reports that Boykin's actions began when people at the bar recognized the TCU quarterback. An errant punch from Boykin, reportedly, missed its intended target and struck a bar employee. Police apparently tried to break up the fight, at which point a still-swinging Boykin hit an officer. Officers threatened to tase Boykin before he finally subsided.
The NBC affiliate in Dallas-Fort Worth specifically reports that the patrons inside the bar did not just recognized Boykin, but "started talking trash." According to that NBC 5 report, Boykin was taken to the ground by multiple officers.
He has been charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest and assaulting a public official.

Maybe not even play backup behind Drew Breez....
I certainly am. I was in the USAF, and every Airman has been to the Alamo. The basement part was a reference to Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.
Oh, sorry, I thought it said this happened in the Big Easy. San Antonio may be a different story.
and keeping your kids away from alcohol-fueled morons who take sports way too seriously, or who just want to stir stuff up, is probably the main reason coaches have curfews at these things. Hopefully the kid learns from this.
That's a good question. The player's history would be a factor: does he get drunk regularly, even if he's not arrested each time? This affects not only his chance of further arrests, perhaps for more serious crimes, but also his health.
That’s a good point. It’s like the Western movie where the famous gunslinger comes to town, plenty of idiots want to get attention by stirring up trouble.
If you were an NFL owner and you had spent millions on this kid, and it was two days before your superbowl when this happened.... Who knows. I don’t know him well enough to know if he’ll grow out of this, or if this is who he’ll be. I can’t judge it....
If you were an NFL team considering him, you'd have a good idea if this behavior is an exception or the rule.
Dang, Treyvone, it’s hard enough to root for you and the Horned Frogs; stop making it harder! I hope Patterson has some mad contingency-planning skills under that visor of his!
Yep.... they’re gonna need some people to step up. Baylor ripped NC (ACC) without a quarterback. So who knows....
I DVRed the Baylor game and avoided all media outlets until I could watch yesterday afternoon (hate spoilers!). I was dreading watching it, but shame on me!! Should’ve known Briles and Briles would have some QB magic up their sleeves!!
Baylor grad here, so not the biggest TCU fan, to say the least, but pulling for all Big 12 schools in their bowls. I’m disappointed in Boykin, but counting on it still being a good game.
I’m REALLY excited to watch the Sooners and Tigers today! Go Sooners!!
We need to ban this dangerous drug.
Backup has some game experience, but there's a lot of difference between Briles having a month to come up with a game plan without the QBs and Patterson trying to come up with one in 48 hours.
NC was lucky to be that close. Late touchdown when it was out of hand. Baylor has quite a team.
I liked the half time comment during the Baylor game... “Clearly NC’s defensive strategy is to let Baylor run until they get tired....” LOL. Yeah... that was 645 yards later.
I’ve got to assume that the backup took plenty of reps in practice and is pretty much ready to go. Yeah, it’s definitely the third string I’m worried about. As you said, who could really put together a contingency plan for THAT in just a couple of days. Fingers crossed for the Horned Frogs!
That was so funny!!
Best not to take a poke at a LEO. Many years ago my younger brother was stopped by a CHP officer for drunk driving. Younger brother took a swing at the CHP officer. Younger brother wound up in the hospital with a broken jaw and a broken nose.Plus a traffic citation. It was not one of his smarter moves.
Lol, I hadn’t seen that picture before!
