Jacksonville Fishing Guide Captures Photos, Video of Great White Shark: ‘Incredible…’
Epoch Times ^ | December 28, 2015

Captain Chard Starling has seen lots of things while on the water, but before the other day he’d only seen a great white shark once.

Starling was excited to double that total over the weekend, calling it “incredible.”

“Quite an eventful day. We caught more red snapper than we could count, had a Mola Mola follow right behind the engines for 10-15 minutes, and oh yeah, the great white deal. Incredible day,” he wrote on Facebook.

“It stands true; you never know what you will see when you’re on the sea!”

I went on a snorkle boat on the Great Barrier reef. We snorkled the shallow reef, and then went out deeper. At the deeper area they said scuba was available, and they would give “lessons”.

The “lesson” was - “This is the breathing thingy. Put it in your mouth and breathe.” I was old enough to know better I suppose, but paid my money, strapped on the gear and jumped in. No buddy, but I figured enough other people were in the water. Except by the time I was in it seemed like I was all alone.

Really cool though! A huge shark swam below me - I tried to go down a bit closer and keep up but it was way too fast. Saw several of those HUGE clam shells - like in the Popeye commercials. Looking back it was really stupid - still have sinus issues 30 years later. But it was amazing.

Was about the only thing I’ve ever done that lived up to my expectations from what one sees on T.V.

Thanks , you know what? It wasn’t long after that incident that I sold my interest in the boat and got out of fishing . That was years ago . Happy to be on land and ‘look’ at the ocean now days . Our boat was too small , the ocean too big and things in it that made our little boat seem like almost nothing at all .

ps: just watched the video in the report . Our experience was quite different , nothing subtle about it . In this case the shark comes around and checks out the fish and then takes a little nip and then comes back for more . In our case the shark explosively launched itself clear out of the water , leaning against our gunwales while it stripped the fish off the line . No nipping , just gulp gulp gone . It was like having a Polaris missile with teeth suddenly appear . It launched itself , it didn’t swim around hesitantly at all . Just boom !
