I totally understand the appeal of these things but they won’t really go ‘viral’ until they can cook, clean, and get a man a beer without bitching at him.
That’ll help sure. No question. The ONLY thing stopping it oe rather holding it back is cost.
Right now RealDoll, a company that makes lifelike sex dolls, sells them for nearly $10K. Thats with no robotics. And from what I’ve read, they are in no danger of bankruptcy. (They do make and female versions any way you prefer them. ize/Shape/whatever)
A month or so back there was one of these threads and I and a few others dug up several articles where they are already working with robotics guys and AI developers. They have a very rudimentary but working head. It talks/answers you and ...other things.
But cost is going to render it/full models eventually, a toy for the rich until China mass produce the things. And they are working on exactly that to solve their male/female imbalance.
Japan is working hard on companion robots to deal with their aging population concerns. The tech will be adapted as well.
For better or worse, in 20 or 30ish years, maybe less, we are going to be awash in them unless we nuke ourselves first. Even if they arent exactly Cherry 2000 models.
You can order food and cleaning at the touch of a button. And just get a mini fridge (or robot) for beer.
If you’re an attractive (or wealthy) man, you can also get sex at the touch of a button (through tinder and other apps).
The average man can easily buy sex at the touch of a button from a menu of girls (slightly more difficult where prostitution is illegal but still not much just harder than ordering pizza). Legalization of sex-work, sex bots and VR sex will make that all come down in price.
