Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens is now playing. Those who have seen it, let's discuss! Those who haven't seen it, hit your back button now.
By beginning the next movie.

Much, much better than 1 through 3.
I was surprised when they killed him off at the end. It almost cost the movie its PG rating when Luke ripped off his arm and beat him to death with it.

I am waiting until the junkies get partially sated, plus its 104f outside right now here near Adelaide Australia, i spend years saving money to vacation in Oz and i’m shut in the cottage cause its an unnatural heat wave, will rain tonight and cooler tomorrow.
I watched the first “Star Wars” (it will always be “Star Wars” to me, not episode IV or “A New Hope”) when I was 10. After all the hype I had seen on the news it was a huge disappointment.
I just thought “What’s all the fuss about? It’s just Flash Gordon [the 1930s B&W movies were a staple morning filler on holiday TV back then] in colour and on the big screen?”. The whole “Wow, so retro man” thing completely passed over my head.
I never watched the sequels and prequels until last year when I bought the box set for my own boys who absolutely fell for it and I have to admit I finally got it, well the first three, the whole prequel thing left me kind of cold.
So I was delighted to take my boys to see episode VII yesterday. Totally enjoyed it, two or more hours of harmless escapist fun without anything objectionable for a family of young kids.
I realise it was simply a remake of the original with a slightly more PC cast and better computer graphics but I wasn’t looking for Citizen Kane and for a way to have some enjoyable fun time with my kids on the first day of the Christmas holidays it gets full marks.
Hans Solo, Leia, Luke & Chewbacca are all killed by angry Ewoks.
"What's Star Wars? Never heard of it" crowd.
Would this one make sense at all to me if I’ve never seen a Star Wars movie?
Spoiler for Number 9 - the new chick and the black stormtrooper are twins.
It was so derivative and boring. For the hypnotized younger generation only.
No, I have not seen it.
They economized....didn't have to pay him jack. Btw he's a Nigerian by way of England
I would not wish that on anyone. Only someone as annoying as that homo Jar Jar Bath House Bink Bink......Who rumor has it used to hook up with Obama (yes! that Obama) at Man's Country in Chicago.
Minor quibble...Han, not Hans.
Thought it sucked.
Take away Han Solo and the Star Wars nostalgia and this movie has nothing going for it. The plot was nonsensical and the acting was horrible. How do you build Death Star EXTREME that’s 10 times the size of the original Death Star without the Republic knowing about it? “Well they did it in secret”. Oh... Is that why the resistance had the plans for it? Jedi knights have natural force abilities but gaining light saber fight techniques and mind control tricks with no training?! AND beating a TRAINED Sith Lord like Monty Pythons Black Knight?!
Nah - it’s just JJ Abrams slobbering all over another franchise. The man can’t tell a story to save his life and can only steal from other sources. Why they didn’t let the Rebels/Clone Wars writers do the story is beyond me.
And no, it’s not better than the prequels.
Yes, this one can stand on its own, you’ll just miss the flurry of references to prior films.
Not for me. i went to see it with my 2 boys and we thought it was overly PC. No need for a master/padawan training with this one, she immediately was able to almost kill the new darth Vader because, well, she’s a woman. In another series of scenes, the black storm trooper keeps trying to hold her hand as they run and she keeps telling him that she doesn’t need to hold his hand, but then later on, she extends her hand to him and he readily grabs it. Lots of crap like that to make her a super feminist icon. Additionally, the new darth Vader came off like a pussy - he cries! The producer, Kathleen Kennedy, and the director, Jj Abrams said they wanted to make a movie that a mother could bring her daughter to see. Well, I thought that was the one from 1977. Ni this PC loaded crap. Nice special effects though.
Plinkett: I think we all went to see this movie just to get it over with. It was like an obligation. Like going to your stupid daughter’s college graduation. You know it’s gonna suck, but you gotta go just to get it over with. Nah, f**k that metaphor. This was like going to an autopsy. You know it’s dead, and nothing’s going to change that. But you gotta do an autopsy to find out what killed it... or who killed it.
I thought well-made, well-acted and enjoyable...but did no one else get the overwhelming sense that it was damn near en exact remake of Ep4, A New Hope? The plot down to the settings, was virtually the exact same movie...which I found VERY lame
LOL!
