I read since it`s a fan funded effort, they didn`t have enough up front to do it all at once so they broke it into four installments, basically a mini-series.

The series Enterprise was a huge disappointment, they could have made the Earth-Romulan war at least two seasons, but NO, they went all action adventure and lost it on that Zindi, temporal war cr@p.

However, the examination of early Federation history is an intriguing approach, lets hope this is better than Enterprise and a return to some classic Star Trek story telling.
