Doesn't fit with his threatening to go independent if treated "unfairly" by the GOP
Trump has stated that he wants to be the GOP nominee. What other leverage does he have to ensure he IS treated fairly?

Trump has stated that he wants to be the GOP nominee.
So do various other people. So what?
What other leverage does he have to ensure he IS treated fairly?
He has a queer notion of "fair" when it comes to himself. The leverage you're referring to is against "GOPe", I guess. What about John and Jane Doe Republican voter. He's threatening them by splitting the vote, thus ensuring a Dem win. However they vote is neither fair or unfair, unless he has a sense of entitlement to their vote. A recent national poll of Republican voters shows negative net favorability: 35-57 = -22. Pffft.
