This is so sad. The video shows him nodding his head and putting his hands in prayer position when asked if he wants to live.

"George W. Bush was the Governor of Texas when the statute that gives the hospital this power was enacted. It is section 166.046 of the Texas Health and Safety Code.

“The statute makes the decision of the hospital committee final, not appealable, and there is no right to go into a court of law to have a judge review the hospital’s decisions,” Dunn’s lawyer, Joe Nixon, told Breitbart Texas. He said the decision is made behind closed doors in a hospital and a patient has no representative or due process rights."

“noncancerous mass was found where his small intestine connects to the pancreas”

They can’t operate?

Were it not for govt slowly eliminating charities through socialism, a charitable hospital would perform that procedure.

I'm not a doctor, but something about this story doesn't add up. I'm trying to envision what kind of digestive tract malady would require a breathing tube and morphine -- and no other form of treatment -- to keep someone alive.

Are there any Freepers with a medical background who can weigh in on this?

There is no other hospital willing to help in Texas?

I am appalled to the point of upchucking my breakfast at the GW statute. Let’s hope God doesn’t feel the same way about Texas.

I wonder if he can be moved to another hospital.

Prayers up for this man and family.

May Almighty God soften the hearts of stone from killing this man who wants to live.

I’m puzzled by the mother. What is she trying to accomplish?

Hospitals treat and release. They do NOT provide long term care.

Once the doctors have done what they can, patients are either released to their homes or to a long term care facility.

In the opinion of the doctors in this case, there is nothing more that they can do for Mr. Dunn.

Normal routine in such cases - the nearest relative arranges for the patient to be moved to a long term care facility where they are set up to provide 24hr care to such patients. And that would be the end of it.

If you read the article, you see that the hospital has recommended such a transfer. Not only did they recommend it, they offered to work with the mother and the long term care facility to facilitate the transfer and they included a list of facilities for the mother to contact.

So... what is the mother trying to accomplish?

She’s crying “Murder” but ALL that she has to do to continue her son’s treatment is move him to an appropriate long term care facility. If the hospital stops life sustaining treatment, the mother has no one other than herself to blame for her son’s death. She knew weeks ago that she had to move him and she did nothing!

Murder of a helpless person is just as EVIL as anything that happened in San Bernadino.

Perhaps all the people pushing to be able to murder this fully conscious man, forcing him to beg for his life, should join ISIS, in order to further their "careers".

I sure wouldn't want to be any of them on Judgement day.

I guess I never should have voted for Jorge in 2000.

PING!

Aren’t we in the middle of the sign up time for Obamacare? Get him signed up now. The hospital wouldn’t have a let to stand on.

After all, he’d be accepted even with his pre-existing condition.
