Stop wasting perfectly good Tequila?!!
The dysregulation of insulin they are talking about appears to have some side effects in the fruit fly. Attempts to trigger similar types of insulin dysregulation in humans would in all probability also trigger a wide array of side effects and unintended consequences. Human insulin serves a very important purpose that was more relevant in the eras preceding civilization and agriculture. Humans have not yet had sufficient time to adapt to the very recent explosive increases in carbohydrate consumption that in turn unprecedented high levels of insulin in the bloodstream. The consumption of Tequila spirits presumably will still result in having increased blood glucose levels as the alcohol is metabolized and damages kidney and brain functions. How much the tequila component separate from the alcohol would offset such damage is unlikely to provide any significant offset and benefit. Naturally, there are probably no end of self experimenters who will try to falsify that conjecture (grin). From the scientific point of view this news is an interesting view into the functioning of insulin in the presence of a different factor. How useful it can be towards treating abnormal blood glucose and insulin levels remains to be seen, likely in many years from now.
Exactly what I was thinking. What is the active ingredient(s)? There are people that east prickly pear and insist it is good for several conditions
